Event Details
The North Florida Women’s Chorale, directed by Kerry Fradley is performing its annual free spring concert in Jacksonville Beach on Sunday, May 1, at 4 pm. at Palms Presbyterian Church, at 3410 3rd Street South. You can find more details at our Website: http://www.womenschorale.org/
Join us for this lighthearted concert which includes the music of ABBA, such as “Mama Mia” and “Take a Chance on Love”. In addition to standard choral repertoire, such as “Arise My Love” by Joan Szymco and “If Music Be the Food of Love” by David Dichau, the Chorale will sing “Somewhere My Love” from West Side Story, “As Time Goes By” and “Do you Carrot All for me?”
During the course of our preparation for this concert our singers have been collecting and donating items for our local community service project which is the Women and Children who reside at the Trinity Rescue Mission Women’s and Children’s facility. We ask our guests attending our Spring performances to consider bringing along pantry items (canned and boxed food items), to fill their shelves in order to feed the 80 plus women and children they house. You may place your donations in Shopping Bags as you enter for each concert. We thank you for your continued contribution to our local community and their needs.
We hope to see you Sunday May 1st at 4pm for this free concert at the Palms Presbyterian Church, 3410 3rd Street South, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.

Event Details
The Athens Theatre invites you to come enjoy Natural Woman–a premier tribute to legendary singer/songwriter Carole King. Backed by a full, all-female band, Professional Orlando-based piano entertainer Katie Pinder Brown plays and sings live the iconic songs that defined a generation.
These are all the classic favorites you’ve loved since the ’60s and ’70s, like the groundbreaking “Brill Building” chart-topping pop mega hits conceived in a tiny Times Square cubicle, the timeless tunes you know by heart but possibly never knew Carole created, and of course the masterpieces from the record-shattering phenomenon Tapestry, the emblem of the singer/songwriter era that solidified Carole King’s position as a trailblazing woman to watch. The same music that electrifies the smash Broadway musical Beautiful: The Carole King Musical will invigorate and comfort Natural Woman audiences as if they were guests in the artist’s living room.
Experience the thrill of being transported back in time by the authentic raw vocal purity, dynamic soulful piano, and genuine audience connection of a truly polished and emotionally intimate performance. With the power of a musical icon and the relatability of a friend, Katie will bring the warmth and strength of Carole King’s compositions to life and the crowd to their feet, dancing in the aisles and singing and clapping along to treasures like “I Feel the Earth Move,” “It’s Too Late,” “Tapestry,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Up on the Roof,” “Jazzman,” “Beautiful,” and more!

THE OAK RIDGE BOYS
FRONT PORCH SINGIN’ TOUR 2022
Theirs is one of the most distinctive and recognizable sounds in the music industry. The four-part harmonies and upbeat songs of The Oak Ridge Boys have spawned dozens of Country hits and a Number One Pop smash, earned them Grammy, Dove, CMA, and ACM awards and garnered a host of other industry and fan accolades. Every time they step before an audience, the Oaks bring four decades of charted singles, and 50 years of tradition, to a stage show widely acknowledged as among the most exciting anywhere. And each remains as enthusiastic about the process as they have ever been.
“When I go on stage, I get the same feeling I had the first time I sang with The Oak Ridge Boys,” says lead singer Duane Allen. “This is the only job I’ve ever wanted to have.”

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville is pleased to announce its first annual Author Showcase and Book Festival to bring readers and women writers together on Saturday, May 14, 2022. The one-day event is free and open to the public.
North Florida’s cultural landscape will be enhanced by this new event, produced by Women Writing for (a) Change with support from local sponsors. Come enjoy an indoor-outdoor celebration meant to lift the voices of diverse female authors on the First Coast.
The showcase will be held on the campus of Women Writing for (a) Change in Riverside at 1610 Osceola Street, Jacksonville, FL 32204. It begins at 11 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m.
Visitors can meet and engage with the authors, purchase books, and get copies of their books signed. They will find books in many genres and for all ages. A children’s hour will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. so authors can read their books to children under a shady oak tree.
Authors will read their works throughout the day, and drawings will be held on the hour for free books.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to see OCEANS: The Sound and The Fury, the current art exhibition at Women Writing for (a) Change, featuring more than 45 regional artists on the theme of oceans. The organization will also be selling ocean-themed journals and copies of their annual anthology, (a) river rising.
Author tables will be arranged outdoors throughout the grounds of this historic home so that social distancing is easy. Health department guidelines regarding masks will be followed.
Visit the website www.WomenWritingJax.org for details about the authors and speakers and to check for any necessary changes in the May 14 schedule due to weather.

Event Details
Eclipsing all other Athens Theatre concerts, the Surrogate Band returns by popular demand for their seventh year at DeLand’s historic theatre. This Floyd tribute band has built their beloved reputation on their live shows that emulate and recreate the sound and soundscape of Pink Floyd’s live shows.
The Surrogate Band will be reproducing numerous chart-topping songs from a variety of Pink Floyd albums including The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, Metal, and Momentary Lapse of Reason note for note in their entirety.
This iconic music (perfectly played and paired with state-of-the-art sound, mind-blowing lasers, and Floyd-worthy projections) has been called “the best concert to hit the Athens’ stage!”
If you are a Pink Floyd fan, then you don’t want to miss this concert experience that audiences rave about and call “spectacular,” “stunning,” and” the next best thing to seeing the real thing–but in an intimate setting!”

It’s Not Easy Learning That Winning (And Losing) Isn’t Everything
CONCEIVED BY REBECCA FELDMAN, ADDITIONAL MATERIAL BY JAY REISS, MUSIC AND LYRICS BY WILLIAM FINN, BOOK BY RACHEL SHEINKIN
No. No. No. This is not a real spelling bee. It’s a show—a very musical comedy.
And Putnam County is entirely fictional—not a misprint for Volusia.
But it could have been. It could have been here—or anywhere. These could be our children. It could be you or your neighbor reading out the words, giving goofy definitions, and offering hilarious and sometimes poignant usage examples.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee takes spell-bound audiences to a fictional contest held in a Middle School where six unforgettably peculiar early teens face each other in a competition supervised by three comically idiosyncratic grown-ups. Adding to the fun are four audience members who agree to appear as spellers. On Broadway, Al Sharpton and Julie Andrews were among them (Play Bill 1/27/2008). Flash backs show play goers the flawed parental relations which have shaped the pressure ridden spellers and reveal to audiences the real children behind their not-quite-polished public faces.
With a Tony Award winning book, this is a must-see finale for the Athens Theatre’s season
