THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND Jazz fans will have a new view to elevate their experience at this year’s Jacksonville Jazz Festival. Held May 24-27 in downtown Jacksonville, the event provides a stage where new, emerging artists can come together with legendary names in jazz. Performers including headliners Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, who will close out the four-day festival Sunday, will perform on the festival’s main stage which has relocated for the first time to the Duval County Courthouse lawn. Sit A While: PorchFest is Back to Jacksonville’s Springfield Neighborhood

Four years ago, with its renaissance in full swing, the and Revitalization Committee created a walk-able event to showcase the historic neighborhood with live music playing from the porches of the area’s “Grand Old Ladies.” The first annual was a success, drawing an estimated 4,000 visitors into the community. Now in its fourth year, the Jacksonville PorchFest is bigger and better than ever. The Chris Thomas Band Is Sending Jazz To Europe

Big things are on the horizon for The Chris Thomas Band. Next month, the 19-piece jazz ensemble embarks on its first ever tour thousands of miles away in London. Everything is happening at warped speed and Thomas is juggling the logistics of touring overseas with a healthy appreciation for what’s in store.   The  will perform a hometown show July 22 at the Times-Union Center to help fund the travel expenses.
