That penny-pinching old skinflint Ebenezer Scrooge is back in residence with the Alhambra’s Christmas Carole until Christmas Eve, as the original musical of Charles Dickens’ classic by Bruce Allen Scudder and Janie Newell makes its 23rd appearance on the stage where this version was born. LaVilla One Act Plays: Upon a Sea of Dreams & Discovering Rogue

The LaVilla School of the Arts presented two one-act plays as their annual Spring Production. The school does two major productions each year. Last fall, LaVilla did the musical School House Rock, which went on to the District Thespians and State Thespian Festival in Melbourne Florida. LaVilla is a magnet school with students from every corner of Duval county in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Alhambra’s Willy Wonka

The Alhambra Theatre opened a special summertime treat for children of all ages (from 5 to 95!), the musical stage version of Willy Wonka. The play is based on the children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by British author Roald Dahl, which was made into a very successful film in 1971, followed by a remake in 2005; the story has been a kid favorite for years.
