Local Filmmakers Challenge Each Other with the 48 Hour Film Project

Filmmakers view life through a unique lens and the challenges participants to execute their vision for a short film in just two days. The winning film will compete against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2020 to win the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2020 Short Film Corner. The 2019 event kicks off May 17 at  with music by DJ Jimmy Hustle, food trucks, and more. An original webseries created by Jacksonville writer Laura Mauldin is cooking up some big laughs. “Lemoncurd” is a mockumentary that follows southern housewife Virginia Lemoncurd in her pursuit of her own daytime cooking show. Jacksonville, FL — It all started with a question while sitting in the back row of the Sun-Ray Cinema in Five Points, July 2016. “Think we can create a comedy film festival?” Monique Madrid asked her husband, filmmaker Adam Madrid. He did not answer her right away but instead pondered the question overnight before responding: he was onboard for the new adventure.
