PBTS’s Annual Pelican Awards Gives Due Recognition Local theatre group held its annual celebration on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at its theatre in . The festive evening began in the lobby at 6:00 pm with a meet- and-greet which included delicious food and assorted beverages. At 7:00 pm, the full-house crowd took their seats in the main auditorium and were treated to speeches, many happily-received awards, and stage entertainment, which included music and dancing.    Henny Stewart, Players’ Repertory Chairperson, was the dynamic master of ceremonies, who introduced the presenters and the recipients of the awards; they received engraved glass plaques. The Pelican Awards, which is ’s version of the Tony Awards, is one of the most awaited local theatre events of the year. This year’s festivities, honoring the contributions of actors, musicians, technical staff, and volunteers during the 2016-17 season, were staged on August 27, 2017 and played to a packed house.
