To Specialized Towing who does vehicle repossessions for a variety of banks and lenders in Jacksonville. According to several families who contacted us, the company has been extremely delayed — sometimes up to a month — in allowing individuals to retrieve personal items from their vehicles including wallets, purses, driver licenses and even childrens’ car seats, which is a considerable problem since the vehicles can be auctioned off in as little as two weeks. The bank or lender may own the car but certainly not the contents within, and Specialized Towing should respect the individuals’ rights and return their property in a timely manner.

To Elite Parking for outrageous and excessive fees for parking Downtown. News4Jax reported rates of up to $80 an hour to park in their lots located throughout the area, while others have found themselves with a $109 parking ticket for being mere minutes past their time being up. Forget highway robbery: This is parking robbery.

To holiday toy drives. So many children go without gifts this time of year for a variety of reasons, and it’s because of local businesses, organizations and charities many of these kids will have something under the tree this year. It’s an amazing thing to witness a child receive a toy or other gift they might not otherwise receive. Speaking of which, “Folio” has partnered with H.E.A.D. On Youth Impact to not only provide gifts but offer “hope, inspiration and opportunities” they may not otherwise have. To participate, drop off unwrapped toys at “Folio” HQ (212 N. Laura St.) by Dec. 15, Toys collected will be given to children in local hospitals and medical facilities, as well as kids on Ken Knight Drive.

The Hunt: Finding the Best Hotdogs in Northeast Florida

It’s officially summertime. And what else screams summertime other than a nice hot glizzy? Maybe wrapped in tinfoil, cooked over a grill or boiled? Even if you claim you dont like hotdogs, you still kind of like hotdogs. It's un-American to feel otherwise.

2023 Films in Review

Words by Harry Moore When it comes to film, 2023 will likely be remembered as a year marred with strikes and big-budget bombs. Hollywood has begun to reckon with an existential crisis that has been brewing since Silicon Valley came to town with streaming hobbling theaters and proving to not

Racing Against Hate Like My Life Depends On It

By Suzie Pollak Becker  I always have a valid passport, cash on hand and a heightened fight or flight instinct braided like challah into my DNA. Why? Because all four of my grandparents were hunted, captured, tortured and marked for extinction. Their grandparents escaped pogroms. My most curious cousin
