FOOTLOOSE AT THE ALHAMBRA

November 2, 2020
1 min read

“Footloose” opened at the Alhambra Dinner Theatre on October 22 and will remain on stage through November 22, 2020.

The Dual Critics of EU Jacksonville – Dick Kerekes & Leisla Sansom – did not review the opening of this production, which was sold out before it even opened! Looks like the “Grease” crowd wanted to see it and turned out in force.

We’ve seen productions in other venues and loved them: the plot revolves around a teenager facing the challenge of life in a small town that has outlawed dancing. If you want to see it, you can try calling the Alhambra box office at 904-641-1212. They do receive cancellations for various reasons from time to time, which opens up seats.

Producer/Director Tod Booth has assembled a large outstanding cast and crew. Names are listed below; see how many you know.

Cast members who have appeared at the Alhambra in the past include Loren Stone, Makenzie Rivera, Alec Hadden, Katie Nettle, Nikki Elena Spies, Rodney White, Samantha Jenkins, Kalea Leverette, David Gowan, Carol Nash, Anthony Mincey ll, Jocelyn Geronimo, Rhys Kauffman, Erin Knowles, Brandon Leporati, Carley Levy, and Rendell DeBose.

New members of the group include Bianca Chico, Samantha Jenkins, Christopher Michael Milligan, Mark Wildman, and Rendell Debose.

The Production Staff included: Shain Stroff, Choreographer; Erick Sureda, Associated Choreographer; Musical Director, Cathy Murphy Giddens; Stage Manager, Paige Wilsey; Costume Designers, Camala Pitts & Dorinda Quiles; Stage Design, Dave Dionne and Ian Black.

“It’s A Wonderful Life” will be on stage during November 25 – December 24, 2020.  The theatre is located at 12000 Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville.  Call 904-641-1212 or visit alhambrajax.com for additional information.

Happy Thanksgiving wishes to all!

The Dual Critics of EU Jacksonville have been reviewing plays together for the past nine years. Dick Kerekes has been a critic since 1980, starting with The First Coast Entertainer and continuing as the paper morphed into EU Jacksonville. Leisla Sansom wrote reviews from time to time in the early 80s, but was otherwise occupied in the business world. As a writing team, they have attended almost thirty Humana Festivals of New America Plays at Actors Theatre in Louisville, Kentucky, and many of the annual conferences sponsored by the American Theatre Critics Association, which are held in cities throughout the country.

They have reviewed plays in Cincinnati, Chicago, Miami, Sarasota, Minneapolis, Orlando, New York, Philadelphia, Sarasota, San Francisco, Shepherdstown, and The Eugene O’Neill Center in Waterford, Massachusetts. They currently review about one hundred plays annually in the North Florida area theaters, which include community, college, university, and professional productions.
