The Jacksonville Film & Television Office is hosting the Jacksonville Television, Digital Media & Music Forum on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 12:30 p.m. in the Main Library’s Hicks Auditorium (303 N. Laura St. – 32202.)

This free event includes the following panels of television and music industry professionals:

Panelists include:
• Warren Skeels, an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker; Creator, Executive Producer and Director of MTV’s ‘SIESTA KEY’.
• Lawrence Najem, attorney whose notable past clients have included John Travolta, The New York Yankees, and the William Morris Endeavor talent agency and executive producer on films starring Sharon Stone, Tim Allen and Jimmy Fallon.

DJ Dr. Doom has been in the entertainment industry for over 30 years and with multiple awards and accolades in radio for the past 28 years in Jacksonville! His television appearances include being the resident DJ for the Straight Talk TV show, BET Rap City the Basement, & more. In addition to his busy radio schedule on 93.3 The Beat as an on air personality and as the mix show director, he is currently managing Get Down Apparel, and creating celebrity mixtapes and helping independent artist take their careers to another level! DJ Dr. Doom is now managing the extremely talented Grammy award writer/ singer/ rapper “Kamillion” from Jacksonville. He has been featured in magazines like The Ozone, Hits, The Fader Urban Network, E Mixshow, Don’t Think Twice, The Source, Billboard Magazine, R & R, Duval streets Magazine, and in 2019 voted #1 Club DJ In Jacksonville by the Folio Weekly magazine. He was featured in The Florida Times Union, Hip Hop Weekly More and is also a member of some of the most Prestigious DJ organizations in the country, Mp3waxx Generals, The Core DJ’s & the Vatican DJ’s which boast some of the nation’s top DJ’s in various formats. DJ Dr. Doom has recently shared the stage with Outkast, LL Cool J, Fantasia, The Roots, War, Doug E Fresh, Slick Rick, Goodie Mob, Isley Brothers, Erykah Badu, Charlie Wilson, B.O.B., Salt N Pepa, New Edition, Frankie Beverly & Maze, T.I., Rick Ross, Young Jeezy and countless other Hip Hop & RNB Legendary artist as the Music director & Official DJ of the National “Funkfest” concert tour for the past 16 years & counting.

Colby Boothman is an American actor and heavy bass DJ hailing from Rhode Island, best known for Jurassic World, Queen & Slim, and the motion capture and sword work for Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars Battlefront series. Behind the decks, Colby draws on wide electronic and hip hop influences, crafting performances designed to take the audience on a journey from the darkest and heaviest of dubstep and trap, to emotional electronic melodies and symphonies. Colby was the closing headliner of Alien Stock, headlined Storm Area 51 Basecamp alongside Paul Oakenfold, frequents comic and anime convention raves, and leads club stages coast to coast.

Keith Davis is the owner of Hamsquad, Inc., a Florida-based music production company formed in 2009. Hamsquad is most known for aggressive club driven production style, consisting of hard hitting 808 drums over hypnotic melodies and attention demanding snare rolls. Along with a memorable signature Hamsquad tag, their sound is unmistakably unique. Hamsquad first gained the attention of major labels in 2009 by producing the song “I’m Ballin” for Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em, featured on the “More Than A Game” motion picture soundtrack. This album went on to become a Billboard top 100 charting album upon release, with Soulja Boy performing a segment of the song at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Hamsquad has produced music for a long list of major and independent artists, including Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Yo Gotti, Jay Rock, OJ da Juiceman, Waka Flocka Flame, Chief Keef, Juicy J, Chevy Woods and many more. Hamsquad also received a notable placement on VH1’s “Signed”, featuring hip-hop moguls Rick Ross, TheDream, and Lenny S of Roc Nation. After executive producing, mixing and mastering an album for upcoming Atlanta artist Jeff Chery, Hamsquad went on to conquer the “Signed” show by getting Rick Ross to remix the Hamsquad produced single “What You Doin?” on the first episode of the show. Hamsquad has also recognized talent in younger producers, signing multiple producers and songwriters to both production and publishing deals of note and serves as manager for rising producer Ghostrage, who under Hamsquad’s guidance co-produced the hit single “Out The Mud” for Atlanta Mega Stars Lil Baby and Future. Hamsquad has also produced for other underground and up and coming artists, including Blac Youngsta, Rico Nasty, Xavier Wulf, Lil Xan, 93FEETOFSMOKE, and more. In 2018, Hamsquad branched out into children’s music with their successful “Kids Music Fun Zone” brand providing lullabies, ASMR, and Holiday Music, both familiar and new alike. In 2019, Hamsquad also branched into the chill-hop genre with their “ChillHop Central” brand and will continue to explore different genres and work with many creatives into the future.
Mac Lawless, a Jacksonville native, is the owner and executive producer of East Bay Studios, located in downtown Jacksonville, Fla. East Bay Studios offers a wide variety of professional entertainment services, including audio recording, music production, music business, music lessons, mobile web consulting, graphic design, multimedia, brand development, event production, live sound, merchandising, duplication and printing services. Lawless serves as the president of Corporation Incorporated, LLC and Jam Brothers Entertainment, LLC as well as the co-founder of the Lone Palm Ranch (LPR), a 40-acre entertainment venue located in scenic Hastings, Fla., featuring two performance stages. Clients Lawless has worked with include: Sony, Universal Music, Warner Brothers Music, Interscope Records, Hustle Gang Records, Nappy Boy Records, Country Music Channel, VH1, MTV, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, City of Jacksonville, City of Fernandina Beach, City of St. Augustine, St. Johns County / Hastings and many more.
Lauren Majure, Founder & Lead Attorney at Majure Law. Lauren specializes in Entertainment, Intellectual Property, Business, Corporate and Contracts. In addition to her Entertainment Law pursuits, Lauren has over 10 years of experience in Marketing, Business Development, and Consulting. As such, she has formulated targeted marketing campaigns, advertising content in both digital and print formats, managed social media platforms and has assisted with small business formation, business accounting, and taxation at both the state and federal levels.

Damien Starkey, Damien Starkey is a producer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist. His resume covers most of the spectrum of the music industry as he enjoys being on both sides, creative and business. He started his career with his first major label record deal right out of high school and was a member of the multi-platinum selling band Puddle of Mudd and Burn Season. In 2010, he started Give 2 Get Music Group in which he is a Music Supervisor and Composer for television and film. Damien has scored and worked on more than 70 television shows and movies including American Pie Reunion, Freeheld, Pawn Stars, Bar Rescue, and Undercover Boss. Dr. Michael FitzGerald is the creator and executive producer of The Soul of Southern Rock, a miniseries that is distributed by Janson Media and will be aired on public television in fall 2020. The series is based on his book Jacksonville and the Roots of Southern Rock, forthcoming from University Press of Florida. FitzGerald is an author and media historian with a doctoral degree in film and television from University of Reading (UK) and a masters in mass communication from University of Florida. He has also written for Jacksonville’s Folio Weekly and the Jacksonville Business Journal.

Warren Skeels is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker. He attended the University of Southern California where he earned a BFA in Theatre and was awarded the Stanley Musgrove Award as “Most Outstanding Talent.” His films have screened across the world including the prestigious festivals Tribeca and Rotterdam. His critically acclaimed documentary feature film Thespians, celebrating the largest high school theatre competition in the world, won Best Documentary at the Phoenix Film Festival, received the Students Choice award at the Edmonton Film Festival and premiered on Showtime. Most recently, Warren created the television series ‘Siesta Key’ with eOne Entertainment for MTV where he has served as both an Executive Producer and Director. Anchored by its beautiful cinematography and cast, the show has become a worldwide hit is now distributed in over 165 countries. Warren proudly calls Jacksonville home where he has served as a Board Member and past Chair on the Mayor’s Advisory Board of Film and Television and Executive Director of the Jacksonville Film Festival. He is a member of the Television Academy, Directors Guild of America and is represented by ICM Partners.

Lawrence Najem has been selected to ‘Best Lawyers’ in two separate fields of practice: Entertainment Law and Personal Injury Litigation. ‘Best Lawyers’ is partnered with U.S. News and World Report, and inclusion is considered to be one of the most respected honors in the profession. Mr. Najem and Michael Ossi lead the firm Ossi & Najem in Jacksonville. In the field of entertainment law, they have provided representation to numerous national celebrities and professional athletes. Some notable past clients have included John Travolta, The New York Yankees, and the William Morris Endeavor talent agency. Mr. Najem is the founding member of Ring Productions, a film and television production company which has produced film projects that have premiered at both the Sundance and Cannes film festivals. He has served as executive producer on films starring Sharon Stone, Tim Allen, Jimmy Fallon, Andie MacDowell, Tom Arnold, and others. Most recently, Mr. Najem helped produce the successful television reality series Siesta Key, which now is in its third season for the MTV Network.
Todd Roobin joined the City of Jacksonville’s Film & Television Office in 1986 and is currently the manager. Todd has considerable experience in the public and private sectors and strives to have a significant impact on Jacksonville’s economy by actively marketing and attracting new film, television and commercial business, assisting local and visiting productions with facilitating permits, and engaging the local workforce and vendor resources. Todd actively markets Jacksonville to the film, television and digital media industries and is the City liaison between the private sector and the production company for those creating television productions, motion pictures, national/regional commercials, music videos, corporate industrials and photography projects. Since 2005, under Todd’s management, the Film & Television Office has permitted and assisted 1,300 productions that have generated $39 million in direct, local economic impact, creating 12,060 local jobs. Todd’s efforts have resulted in attracting major motion pictures such as: BASIC, G.I. Jane; Tigerland; Devil’s Advocate; Sunshine State; Recount; The Year of Getting to Know Us; Lonely Hearts; The Manchurian Candidate, numerous commercials, TV movies/series/programs, music videos and more. Prior to joining the City of Jacksonville, Todd worked for MTV in New York where he assisted producers with television specials. Todd has served on many state and local boards of directors including: Film Florida, Inc. (past president); Florida Film and Entertainment Advisory Council (past chairman, appointed by Governor Bush); Jacksonville Film Festival Board; Visit Jacksonville; Florida Motion Picture & Television Association – N.E. FL Chapter; and Florida Film Commissioners Association (past president). Ambassador on the Ascension / St. Vincent’s HealthCare Foundation. Todd also served on the 2005 Super Bowl Host Committee Board.
