Preston Haskell has generously donated “Opposing Forces,” a 15-foot-tall painted steel sculpture by Hanna Jubran, to Hemming Park. The outdoor sculpture was previously located at the corner of Laura St. & Forsyth St. as part of Jenny Hager’s Sculpture Walk Jax project.

“I bought the piece from Sculpture Walk and have been waiting until Hemming Park was ready to receive it,” said Preston Haskell. “This will be its new, permanent home.”

“Opposing Forces” is from a sculpture series by Hanna Jubran that deals with the concept of gravity and the four elements – Earth, Water, Fire and Wind – in our universe on both the micro leval and the macro level. It expresses the cycle of life, growth and opposing forces in our universe with the interplay of line, form, space and colors.

“We are very grateful to Preston for this generous donation and his ongoing support of Hemming Park,” said Vince Cavin, CEO of Friends of Hemming Park. “We are thrilled to have this amazing outdoor sculpture serve as a welcome to visitors at the entrance of our park for years to come.”
