Tree Hill Nature Center is one of Jacksonville’s greatest hideaways. The 50+ acres of land, the Florida natural history museum and the annual Joseph A. Strasser Butterfly Festival ensures a unique experience for all visitors, any time of the year. Since its inception in 1971, Tree Hill Nature Center has provided science and outdoor education to hundreds of thousands of children.  This would not be possible without the support of its members.

Become a member!  For only $40, a family of six can visit anytime they wish, are offered free admission to the Joseph A. Strasser Butterfly Festival and receive discounts on programs, rentals, and gift shop purchases. The annual membership fee allows Tree Hill to care for its goats, chickens and rehabilitated animals as well as an alligator exhibit and swamp exhibit. Explore miles of trails through the woods that will leave you wondering if you’re in the city anymore!

Grow food for those in need! Tree Hill Nature Center has been home to the Arlington Community Garden since 2010. With 37 garden beds and many volunteer hours over 3,000 pounds of food has been donated to Arlington Community Services. The harvests from the Garden remain the only source of regular fruits and vegetables for their clients.

Protect Florida’s delicate ecosystem! The land that is preserved by Tree Hill Nature Center is essential to the health and wellbeing of many critters who would otherwise have nowhere to live. The large area of land is home to foxes, owls, and the occasional alligator as well as native snakes, opossums, and many species of birds. Migrating birds find a safe place to rest at Tree Hill Nature Center to help them along their journey in the winter.

A few things that you can do today to make a difference:

  •         Join Tree Hill Nature Center as a member or serve as a volunteer at the Arlington Community Garden
  •         Gather a group and become a sponsor of the Joseph A. Strasser Butterfly Festival. A $500 sponsorship has many perks including 25 general admission tickets to the event!
  •         Donate your time to help with our education programs, animal care or the Joseph A. Strasser Butterfly Festival!
  •         Purchase raffle tickets to support our programs and the chance to win some great prizes!

Please stop by during our normal operating hours, Monday-Saturday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. You can visit us anytime at our website: treehill.org or visit us on Facebook, email us at info@treehill.org or call 904-724-4646.
