Accompanying this year’s Riverside Avondale Luminaria, will be an open house like no other. After 55 years of occupancy, the legendary Green House will be open for the public to tour. If you’re an Allman Brothers Band fan, you’ve probably already made your way by this historic site for a curious look. For others, it’s one of Riverside’s best kept secret. “This is, of course, where various members of The Second Coming lived in 1968 and early 1969. On March 23rd of ’69, Duane, Berry, Jaimoe, Dickey, and Butch gathered here for what would come to be forever known as the Jacksonville Jam. The 3-hour session laid the foundation for the beginnings of America’s greatest band, the Allman Brothers Band.” -Rick Whitney. Hittin’ the Note, Issue 26, 2000.

Later, when the band moved to the Gray House, Ronnie Van Zant and various members of Lynyrd Skynyrd took residence here. They even added their custom sound-proofing methods… mattresses hanging on the walls.

Come see it for yourself, walk the halls of this legendary home, and enjoy the stories we have to share.
