Florida Humanities brings the Beatles experience back to Jacksonville to commemorate the 60th anniversary of their 1964 Gator Bowl concert! The evening will feature a live performance from Beatles tribute band, Liverpool Live, and conversations with “Good Day Sunshine State” author Bob Kealing and oral historian Dr. Kitty Oliver, one of the few Black attendees at the first integrated concert in the Southeast.

During the mid-60s, Beatlemania swept the nation as Americans faced great change during the Civil Rights Movement. The Beatles’ insistence on performing only for racially integrated audiences was viewed as a notable show of support in the fight against segregation, highlighting their role as allies in the movement. Join us to relive the timeless songs from the British pop band (such as “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” “A Hard Day’s Night”), and enjoy incredible storytelling, as we dig deep into the social climate of Florida in the ‘60s and explore the historic impact of the 1964 concert.

Tickets are $20 plus tax and processing fees when purchased in advance or $25 at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. for book sales, book signings and museum tours. Photo ops with the band will be available. Groovy attire encouraged!

Crescendo Amelia is proud to present our Dancing through the Decades event for one-night only in Downtown Jacksonville. Special DISCO theme! Featuring four incredible vocalists: Theo Canty, Linzy Lauren, Danielle Eva and Leelyn Osborn.

Join us for an evening of music & dance from 1920 through the 2020’s as we dance the night away with a live 10-piece band. We’ll be performing everything from swing & jazz, to R&B, Motown, Soul, Disco, and pop-hits. There will be a costume contest for the best dressed so come as your favorite decade for a chance to win.

“1964”  focuses on the quintessential moment in history, when The Beatles actually played before a LIVE audience.  The Beatles toured the world in the early 1960’s, but now only a  precious few remain who actually saw them LIVE. Who actually felt the “mania” that brought them to world acclaim. Today, all that remains are a few scant memories and some captured images in pictures and on poor quality film and video.

“1964” meticulously re-creates the “MAGIC” of those LIVE Beatles’ performances with artful precision and unerring accuracy. For those that never saw The Beatles LIVE and always wanted to know what it must have been like…this is as close as anyone could possibly get to…FEELING the MAGIC! For over 30 years, “1964” has thrilled audiences with what is considered to be the most authentic and endearing tribute to The Beatles.

This has been accomplished by a  steady and  consistent cast of talented professional musicians, who painstakingly recreate the look, feel and note for note sound of an actual LIVE Beatles performance.

“1964” recreates an early ‘60s live Beatles concert with period instruments, clothing, hairstyles, and onstage banter with an accuracy that is unmatched.

The inaugural Music Tour will celebrate Riverside
& Avondale’s rich musical history. This fall event
will feature performances across eight unique
stages, each narrating a different story of musical
moments and people that have shaped our
community including memorabilia.

The event focuses on individuals from our community, locally written music with global significance, and the influence of musicians in the past on music today. Jacksonville and Riverside offer well-known and untold stories of music worth sharing! Similar to Home Tour and Garden Tour, the event includes:⁠

• Mini concerts throughout the tour⁠ w/ local bands⁠
• Pop-up exhibits and memorabilia⁠
• Headliner performance from The Curt Towne Band
• Silent Disco with Hush Hush Headphones

The Music Tour will share our community’s music history at multiple distinct locations throughout Riverside including homes, yards, parks, and businesses. Unlike a typical music festival with centralized stages, the Music Tour will offer a program and walkable route to unassuming stages and locations throughout the district, limited to 1,000 people!

All ticket purchasers will receive a program and map, a wristband for entry at each stage, headphones for Hush Hush Jax Silent Disco, and a custom Spotify Playlist! This totally walkable event is focused on the area surrounding Willowbranch Park. Addresses for each stage will be kept private until closer to the event to protect homeowners’ privacy, but ticket purchasers will receive a code for the Art Bikes Jax app that will provide walking instructions, narration, audio cues, and more available on October 12 and after.

At only $20 per ticket, this event will sell out fast.

Jacksonville PorchFest presented by Corner Lot’s Corner on Main returns to Historic Springfield for its 10th Anniversary on Saturday, November 9, 2024.

Presented by Corner Lot’s Corner on Main, Jacksonville PorchFest is a FREE, family- and dog-friendly music festival held on the beautiful front porches of the Historic Springfield community, just north of Downtown Jacksonville, Florida. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, November 9th and will feature over 20 musical acts performing from 12 PM – 8 PM, plus food trucks, craft beer, art vendors, and more.

The festival will feature a main stage and headliner to close out the night in Klutho Park. Headliner and band lineup announcements coming soon. VIP tickets – including access to the VIP Area with complimentary beer, wine, and food – can be purchased on the Jacksonville PorchFest website.

Proceeds from the festival support public arts in Jacksonville’s Urban Core. Since PorchFest began in 2014, proceeds have funded more than a dozen public art installations including murals, sculptures, painted crosswalks, and more.

St. Michael’s Soldiers presents Rock the Box 4, a Night of Music for our Heroes.

St. Michael’s Soldiers is dedicated to the support of the Deployed Men & Women of our United States Military.

Created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, STOMP continues to tour North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia following 15 years in London’s West End and 29 years at New York’s Orpheum Theatre, and lengthy sit down productions in San Francisco, Boston and Las Vegas. Throughout its life, the show has continued to change by creating new material to bring music to everyday objects.  It is safe to say you will never again look at supermarket carts  or plumbing fixtures the same way… or paint cans, or kitchen sinks or…

The performers “make a rhythm out of anything we can get our hands on that makes a sound,” says co-founder/director Luke Cresswell.  A unique combination of percussion, movement and visual comedy, STOMP has created its own inimitable, contemporary form of rhythmic expression: both household and industrial objects find new life as musical instruments in the hands of an idiosyncratic band of body percussionists.  It is a journey through sound, a celebration of the everyday and a comic interplay of characters wordlessly communicating through dance and drum.

Champagne for Change is an annually hosted black tie fundraising event expressively designed to bring awareness to the needs concerning the urban core communities of Jacksonville.   The goal for this event is to raise enough funds to provide a stipend to a high school student on their way to college, sponsor 5 families for Christmas by providing toys and food (where needed) as well as provide a monetary endorsement to local minority owned business.

The original national PBS show Christmas with The Celts aired on over 200 PBS channels across the U.S., Canada and on the BBC in Ireland for three years. This successful TV show was the initial spark, which created a huge demand for the production bringing them into Performing Arts Centers, Theaters, and large casinos every year.

The high-stepping spirited musical selections have audiences clapping along from the first lively renditions of popular contemporary Christmas classics. The show presents a perfect combination of modern Christmas hits, lively ancient Irish Carols, hilarious spontaneous humor, thrilling Irish dancing, a children’s choir and meaningful Christmas ballads with lush string arrangements giving audiences a most memorable interactive Christmas experience.
