Ritz Theatre and Museum presents Through Our Eyes 2014 Jacksonville area African American artists are invited to submit applications for the exhibition. “Call and Response: Illuminating God’s Trombones” February 13, 2014 through July 31, 2014 Artists will create original works inspired by James Weldon Johnson’s 1927 volume of poetry, God’s Trombones, Seven Negro Sermons in Verse. Written by Jacksonville’s “Poet Laureate”, James Weldon Johnson’s God’s Trombones celebrates the eloquence, earthiness and passion of African American preachers.
