Bassist from The Dog Apollo Goes at it Alone: Chad Villarroel Releases Carmen EP

Chad Villarroel is channeling his inner chaos into a new solo effort that reflects his personal journey through the fire. After a self-imposed hiatus, Villaroel will launch his new passion project, Carmen, with an EP of songs called “Pause/Again,” that he says represent his cyclical journey. The single Novacaine drops July 5th and will be available on all streaming services including Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play. Local High School Student, Colin Harden, Wins Coveted Spot at Springing the Blues Festival in Jacksonville Beach

Growing up, multi-instrumentalist Colin Harden showed an early aptitude for music. The 16 year old started by plinking around on his grandmother’s basement piano and evolved into a classically trained pianist before he was of legal age to drive. “She figured for my seventh birthday she’d get me my first piano lesson,” he says. “Since then, I’ve just been playing music my entire life.” Harden now counts–literally he has to pause to tally the number–the piano, guitar, mandolin, drums, bass and ukulele among the instruments he plays. Mofro co-founder Daryl Hance has a new video for the song “Inside” from 2016’s Wild Blue Iris album. Should be good for a few laughs! It’s a comedy performance piece and another loose tribute to the Beastie Boys’ style of video making.
