Rainbow colored umbrellas line our sandy beaches. The wind carries the fruity aroma of suntan lotion, and there are no shortage of entertainment and activities to partake in Jacksonville. Our schedules calm down a bit, and we relax. But with this heat index on the rise, we must remember to do something daily. What is the single most important ingredient we humans need after oxygen?
Water. We must remember to drink it. Drinking water allows for miracles to occur in our body. Hydration promotes a strong immune system. Our sleep is more peaceful, waking up feeling refreshed. Hydration keeps our soft tissue and muscles pliable versus cramping during the night. We improve our cognitive capacity to think more clearly. Our minds are sharp and agile instead of feeling bogged down like an old computer with too many windows open. Drinking water restores our energy and keeps us alert.
Hydration is necessary in maintaining normalized blood pressure which leads to decreased rate of falls, soft tissue injuries, and decreased headaches.
Hydration makes us happy. Drinking water creates a more normal gastrointestinal environment which allows natural serotonin, dopamine, and melatonin to be created. These are the feel good chemicals. Hydration naturally stimulates the production of these feel good chemicals so that we can be more happy and think more happy thoughts.
It’s easy to become hydrated. Establish a new schedule of water consumption. Chug three glasses right when you wake up. Drink one more before you leave for work.
Set up alerts on your smartphone. Carry your canteen with you. Eat more fruits and veggies like melons, grapes, celery, cucumber, and broccoli. Water and hydration, simply, put, gives quality of life by allowing every cell in the our body to perform at its highest capacity.
