The brainchild of South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, with cowriter Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon satirizes the beliefs (and practices) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, aka Mormons. The raucous musical, which racked up nine Tony Awards, tells the adventures of two earnest albeit naïve American missionaries intent on “saving” the locals of a remote Ugandan village, who are more interested in their very survival. Hilarity doth ensue!
