The New York Times called this musical comedy review “hilarious.” Mel Brooks praised the show, which was inspired by the website OldJewsTellingJokes.com. The website, created by Sam Hoffman, brought together comedians age 60 and older to relate hilarious jokes from the history of Jewish comedy. Some of the narrative jokes became sketches dealing with adversity through humor. After appearing on the website, Daniel Okrent decided to make something for the theater with co-creator Peter Gethers . The New York Times praised the show’s “enduring rhythm of Jewish Humor.”
