BOUQUETS TO JSO LT. STEVE MULLEN AND OFFICER BRAD SMITH On Feb. 22, the off-duty officers observed a 9-foot leatherback sea turtle entangled in a crab trap two miles offshore. They pulled alongside and gently freed the poor creature from the trap’s rope that was looped around its neck. A video of the rescue is on JSO’s Facebook page.
BRICKBATS TO DR. CONSTANCE HALL Dr. Hall was caught with her texting fingers in the poisonous cookie jar when local media published disparaging texts she sent about Duval County Schools Superintendent Nikolai Vitti, referring to him as “special ed in action.” Vitti, who overcame dyslexia, was as appalled as the rest of us.
