#3 PORT AUTHORITY?
MEET JACKSONVILLE’S NEW $60K PORT CONSULTANT, by Jeffrey C. Billman
As the (imminent?) dredging of the St. Johns River once again becomes a popular topic of discussion, it’s important to remember what a clusterfuck this thing has been. In late December 2014, the city of Jacksonville, by default, hired Dr. Dr. (yep, he went by “Dr. Dr.”) Herbert M. Barber Jr. to analyze the economic impact of the proposed $700 million dredging project. It was shortly thereafter that former Folio Weekly Magazine editor Jeffrey C. Billman unearthed (through a deep Google search) a book written by Barber, in which he “sneers at the ‘ugly,’ ‘entitled’ poor and claims that President Obama is ‘logarithmically more anti-American than any ten thousand terrorists.’” So much for vetting. The city paid Barber $60K, but did not retain his services. Sixty-thousand dollars for Nice work if you can get it.
