Fall harvest is the time to explore local farms, and the Tour de Farm presented by Slow Food First Coast is the perfect way to do just that. The Tour de Farm is on Sunday, November 15th, from noon to 5pm, boasting over 20 farms paired with artisan partners and chefs providing tastings of seasonal offerings from the farm. The tour is designed to give you the opportunity to visit your local farms, meet the farmers, and check out where your produce, dairy, meat, and eggs come from.

“The Tour de Farm was created to strengthen the connection between local food, strong farms, and healthy communities,” says Slow Food First Coast Director of Special Events Kurt D’Aurizio. He explained that the tour provides plenty of options for everyone and “with 25 farms in five counties featuring top chefs, children’s events, workshops, and more, the tour is designed with everyone in our community in mind.”

The tour offers a $20 Car Pass, which is valid for full day of unlimited farm visits on the 15th. The car pass allows you to pack your car with family or friends for one price for unlimited access to the all the farms on the tour. Participants can purchase the pass that day or visit SlowFoodFirstCoast.org to make a donation and reserve a car pass.

With so many farms available, it’s impossible to visit and enjoy them all, unless you’re Santa, or have a time turner. However, there are ways to get the most out of your day. Check out some of the best routes for each area in Jacksonville. It’s hard to go wrong as each route has kid friendly events, chefs, and artisan partners. If you are looking to create your own tour, or just visit one of two farms, you can do that too by planning your own route! Information booklets for the tour can be picked up in advance at all Native Sun locations and many libraries in Duval County. The booklets make it easy to choose, and plan so you don’t miss your favorite events and chefs!

Tip: Start out early at the farthest farm and work your way to the farm closest to home!

Kale Boucher I’ve long romanticized gardening. As soon as I got my hands on “The Adventures of Peter Rabbit” I was fixated by the idea of growing your own food. It’s only recently I’ve made the leap from childhood dreaming to tangible learning and practice. In this, I’m not alone.
