CLASSIC SOUL

A progenitor of what became known as “blue-eyed soul,” singer-songwriter Boz Scaggs first stepped into the spotlight in the late ’60s as lead vocalist for Steve Miller Band. Scaggs’ 1969 eponymously titled second album (which featured some blistering guitar work by Duane Allman) established a winning blueprint of blues, soul, and rock that the Grammy-Award winner followed, with much success. Top 20 singles, including classics like “Lowdown” and “Lido Shuffle,” collaborations with Donald Fagen and Michael McDonald, successful forays into jazz, and an international fan base are but a few of the highlights of a career that’s played out as cool as one of this soul icon’s one-of-a-kind tunes.
