The first ulcers Duval Dems developed when imagining Lenny Curry taking the reins as mayor of Jacksonville stemmed from the perception that someone who was Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida might take a relatively partisan approach to the job. After two months on the job, the dismissal of 299 Brown administration appointees, and the requests for resignation of many high-level board members and leaders – including those involved in the transportation and development – it is easy to imagine those ulcers worsening. Mayor has defended these removals, channeling Meek Mill and Rick Ross, telling the Florida Times-Union, “It’s about being a boss.
