Crucial Coffee

Downtown

There is a little shack at the corner of Charlotte and Hypolita called Crucial Coffee. Their regular coffee is pretty much an Americano. Come here for espresso drinks or tea. It looks more charming than it is.

Menu Highlight: They have a fabulous selection of tea.

Dos Coffee and Wine

Uptown / North St. Augustine

Dos started as a coffeehouse that balanced coffee daytimes with wine nighttimes. Personally, I never tried their wine or beer, but in the mornings I loved the Convive coffee that they roast on-site.

Menu Highlight: Their Ethiopian pour-overs may be the best coffee in the area.

The Kookaburra

Downtown and West St. Augustine

An “Aussie-American espresso bar and pie shop.” They are known for their candy-like sweet espresso drinks. They are also one of the only coffee shops Downtown with pour-overs and cold brew.

Menu Highlights: Meat pies. Yes, meat pies. You know, coffee shop meat pies.

The Hyppo Cafe

West St. Augustine

The Hyppo Cafe, An Insider's Guide to St. AugustineOne of the oldest city’s best kept local secrets, the Hyppo Cafe is a spacious coffee shop with plenty of comfy couches, cafe seating, and booths. It has artful decor and arguably the best selection of coffees and teas in town.

Menu Highlights: The sandwiches are like no other. The Goat is a roast beef sandwich with cucumber and mint. Some other ingredients: prosciutto, fig preserves, tapenade, local honey, gorgonzola, gruyere, gouda, goat cheese. The Al’Italia and the Elvis are also differentiators.

Insider Tip: This is where they make Hyppo popsicles, so they have the best selection.
