River City Brewing Company

Jacksonville should rediscover a long-time brewery situated on the City’s Southbank Riverwalk snuggled between the Acosta Bridge and Friendship Fountain Park. River City Brewing Company features a nautical venue reflecting the maritime heritage of Jacksonville with expansive views of the city’s downtown skyline and the “river that runs north,” the St. Johns.

Brewing is just a part of what they offer. On-site Jackson Pale Ale, Jag Light, Red Rooster Ale, and Riptide Porter starts out a brew tasting with a view that’s hard to find. “We offer great riverfront dining,” says General Manager Guy McKenzie, a 14-year veteran of the restaurant, “and have hosted Henry Winkler, John Travolta, the Olsen twins and many Jaguars players.” Located on Museum drive just steps from The MOSH, River City Brewing Company is host to corporate dinners, wedding receptions, and people who just enjoy fresh seafood in a room with a view—in fact, two levels of view, including a ballroom.

The restaurant also welcomes weddings. “Pair an experience – wed at Friendship Fountain Park and come on over here for the reception,” McKenzie says. The restaurant deck and bar deck are also available for parties. People come to relax after work and enjoy a cold brew because it’s not a club-like venue, rather more relaxed and informal with fine hospitality given to each guest. Featured dishes are filet and lobster tail, as well as prime rib on the weekends. The Sunday Brunch is very popular, too – the view is fantastic.

They are jammed during July 4 and during the city’s annual Boat Parade. People come early to partake in the homemade Jambalaya and fish of the day, all locally sourced. “We love to see former Mayor Jake Godbold, who comes in for the gumbo!” says McKenzie. Catering is available and “The Foxy Lady” is now moored in front and offers their catering menu. Ask about their Concierge Program, too, as they are where many civic and community organizations meet regularly. It’s a Jacksonville establishment.

Yes, it’s a beautiful place to stop-in, stay a while and take advantage of a wide selection of good food, a great bar, and beer brewed on-site. You’ll find them at 835 Museum Circle and rivercitybrew.com.
