Jacksonville Dance Theatre in Concert showcases the unique, exciting style of the company and offers the audience an entertaining and captivating evening of dance.

“We’re thrilled to be presenting our third repertory concert,” says Levy. “And we are honored to be presenting the work of nationally renowned choreographers, as well as that of our own very talented members. Jacksonville has embraced professional dance, and the rest of the country’s dance community and audiences have taken notice.”

For the third annual Jacksonville Dance Theatre in Concert, JDT commissioned new works by acclaimed choreographers Lana Heylock (Jacksonville), Bliss Kohlmyer (New York/San Francisco) and Mikey Rioux (Seattle/Chicago).

“It was a true pleasure working with the professionals of JDT. My work, Point of Departure, is a choreographic inquiry regarding the various departures we feel in our lives and the subsequent points of entrance to new possibilities,” says Heylock, one of the commissioned choreographers.

JDT annually produces its repertory concert in May, an evening of duets at the Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in February and a concert of solo performances in March, as well as a series of smaller performances and community outreach events throughout the year.

tiff_bankNationally, JDT has been featured in dance productions including The Dance Gallery Festival at the Ailey Center in New York City, The Dance Gallery Festival at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, The Mix Match Dance Festival at the Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica and the Ignite Dance Festival at The Vine Theater, in San Diego.

Jacksonville Dance Theatre (JDT) is a contemporary dance and performance company dedicated to creating and promoting excellence in the field of professional dance on local, national and international stages. JDT is committed to creative innovation and exchange through dance making, performance and education.
