Jacksonville has embraced professional dance, and the rest of the country’s dance community and audiences have taken notice.”
For the third annual Jacksonville Dance Theatre in Concert, JDT commissioned new works by acclaimed choreographers Lana Heylock (Jacksonville), Bliss Kohlmyer (New York/San Francisco) and Mikey Rioux (Seattle/Chicago).
“It was a true pleasure working with the professionals of JDT. My work, Point of Departure, is a choreographic inquiry regarding the various departures we feel in our lives and the subsequent points of entrance to new possibilities,” says Heylock, one of the commissioned choreographers.
