In the late ’70s and early ’80s, metal was king and Anvil forged a place on the scene on the strength of their no-BS style of metalloid riffage and high-energy live shows. Like many of their hard rock and metal peers, these Canadian rockers fell into semi-obscurity during the grunge years, yet they continued to record and tour. The 2006 warts-and-all (and highly enjoyable) documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil brought the fellers back into prominence. Founding members Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Robb “Robbo” Reiner are riding this second wave of rock glory, bringing their hammering, headbanging sound to diehards and newbies alike.
