Focusing on abstract paintings from 1950 to 1990, the exhibit Rothko to Richter: Mark-Making in Abstract Painting from the Collection of Preston H. Haskell features 27 works by some of the 20th century’s most notable artists, including Karel Appel, Helen Frankenthaler, Hans Hofmann, Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning, Morris Louis, Joan Mitchell, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, Gerhard Richter (pictured, Untitled, acrylic on canvas, 1986) and Mark Rothko.
