The Jacksonville Fencing Club hosted the 13th Annual River City Duel Til You Drop Tournament on Saturday, January 10. The event was held at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds located at 510 Fairgrounds Place.
Fencing is the art of swordsmanship and has been practiced for centuries. It was originally used as training for the deadly combat of the duel. Fencing is one of only four sports to be included in every modern Olympic Games since the first in 1896. It is a very popular sport because it offers a high degree of exercise, both physical and mental. Fencing develops coordination, speed and agility, as well as the additional benefits of poise and self-assurance.
The Jacksonville Fencing Club (JFC) is open to everyone who is interested in fencing. In addition to enhancing your own enjoyment of this fast-moving sport, you will gain a new level of self-confidence, self-control and personal satisfaction with an overall improvement in health and stress reduction. The club is located at 3955 Riverside Avenue in Jacksonville. For more information about the Tournament or about the Jacksonville Fencing Club, please contact Coach Raul E.
