“The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living”— Marcus Tillius Cicero
Everyone dies — we’re all racing toward the same inescapable conclusion no matter the plots of our individual stories. What matters is how we live, how impactful our lives are, what kinds of legacies we leave.
The 13 people we remember here may not have been household names, and some were certainly better known than others, but they all left their mark on Northeast Florida — some on the writers who wrote these remembrances, others on the entire community. Here’s hoping that all of our lives, in one way or another, are equally consequential.
