50 Shades The Musical - Artist Series

It was the second coming of the sexual revolution that spiced up the lives of bored housewives and changed the definition of reading for pleasure. Now, the wildly successful book 50 Shades of Grey comes to life on stage – and in song! 50 Shades! The Musical – The Original Parody is making its Jacksonville stage debut in a special, one night only production at 7:30 p.m. December 9 in the Moran Theatre at the Times-Union Center for the Arts.

50 Shades! The Musical – The Original Parody sold out shows in Chicago and New York and earned a four-star review at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The story opens with a ladies book club deciding to read Fifty Shades of Grey. What ensues is a hilarious, musical tribute to this best-selling novel by E. L. James as the women explore their interpretations of the book through music.

The show is full of dance numbers, 11 original songs including ‘They Get Nasty,’ ‘There is a Hole Inside of Me’ and ‘I Don’t Make Love,’ with a live band backing their performance. Much like the book trilogy, the musical parody is not intended for young audiences but it will make for the perfect girls night out without crossing boundaries that will make you squirm.

Produced by Marshall Cordell, Albert Samuels and Emily Dorezas, 50 Shades! The Musical – The Original Parody is presented by the Artist Series Broadway in Jacksonville. Tickets start at $27 and are available at the Artist Series box office or online at www.artistseriesjax.org.
