A 2013 Inductee into the Jacksonville Jazz Festival “Hall of Fame,” 5xtime Downbeat Magazine award winning vocalist/composer, profiled in the book,”The New Face of Jazz,” Jacksonville based jazz vocalist Lisa Kelly and trumpeter JB Scott will be hosting a CD Release Performance Party on Tuesday, Nov 26, 7:30pm, celebrating the release of their long awaited 6th CD release, “Renditions.. the Summer Sessions.” Both are internationally traveled performers throughout the USA, Canada and Europe, and Kelly has been a staple artist in the region for over 25 years. Both graduates of the esteemed University of North Florida Jazz Program, Kelly & Scott (trumpet professor & director of the UNF JE 1 big band) have garnered much acclaim as jazz artists, mentors and educators of high regard. “The Kelly/Scott Sextet” will perform selections from the new 2-CD “Renditions” project, with the fellow all-star cast from the CD, pianists Jeff Phillips and Joshua Bowlus, former “Airmen of Note” trombonist Dave Steinmeyer, Arturo Sandoval bassist Dennis Marks, and former “Navy Commodores” drummer Clyde Connor, and culminate with a final tune that includes several UNF jazz student musicians. The event will take place at the Mudville Grill Music Room, 3105 Beach Blvd, Jax, 32207. Tickets are $10, $5 students, through Ray Lewis Music Productions, PH: 904-352-7008.
