The Downtown development group called The Elbow, whose goal is to revitalize and promote the culture of Downtown Jacksonville. We have partnered with the good folks at Void to bring to Jax something that has been desperately needed for a long time: an express shuttle service connecting downtown to the beaches – Jacksonville’s most prominent culture hubs.
That’s right- No more driving clear across town just to hear your favorite band, or worrying about how much you’ve had to drink before you head back home. The Connector will offer a non-stop express with only two stops! To many, this sounds too good to be true, but it really does get better…
Buses will run from 7pm to 2am, Friday and Saturday, with hourly stops on both sides of town.
Pricing for the service will start at a mere $5 for a one-way ticket, and $8 round trip.
The service is designed to not only safely transport people, but take additional cars off the roadway, which will help cut down on DUI’s and auto fatalities.
The Connector will be an eco-friendly excuse to travel across town, without putting the party on hold!
Where do you come in?
In an effort to connect two thriving areas of the Jacksonville community, Void and The Elbow have come together to launch The Connector; a fast, reliable, and cost effective transportation solution connecting the Beaches and Downtown. To kick off the project, Void and The Elbow have launched a crowdfunding campaign in order to inspire community participation and involvement, which will run through November 30, 2013.
The Connector will contribute to the economic growth of Jacksonville by giving consumers the opportunity to explore areas of the city through use of two private luxury buses developed and run by Void and The Elbow. A total of $100,000.00 must be raised in order to get the buses up and running. Once operation commences, The Connector will leave the parking lot at the Jacksonville Pier every hour on the hour starting at 7pm and drop riders off at Underbelly at The Elbow and vice versa. Transportation will end at 2am and will be available Friday and Saturday following the launch. Cost will be $5 one-way and $8 round trip.
“We’re really excited to get the public involved with this project,” says Eddie Berrang, Integrated Marketing Manager for Void, “The Connector combines safe, clean, and affordable travel with convenient and effective service – it’s a simple concept that has the ability to move Jacksonville forward.” Grant Nielsen is the Media Manager for The Elbow and agrees with Berrang. “By giving Jacksonville residents the opportunity to participate in funding for The Connector, we are encouraging them to support community growth,” says Nielsen, “The Connector combines all the characteristics any community supporter would want in an initiative – it’s eco-friendly, reliable, and cost effective.”
The Connector’s crowdfunding campaign will run through November 30, 2013 and can be accessed here: www.jaxconnector.com
