AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): The last time meteorologists officially added a new type of cloud formation to the International Cloud Atlas was 1951. They’re considering another one now. It’s called “asperatus,” derived from the Latin term “undulatus asperatus”, meaning “turbulent undulation.” According to the Cloud Appreciation Society, it resembles “the surface of a choppy sea from below.” Though it looks rough and agitated, it almost never makes a storm. Make asperatus your mascot for the next few weeks. You’ll discover something new under the sun. It may look turbulent, but it’s mostly just interesting.
