In celebration of 60 years since opening its first location in Jacksonville, area BURGER KING® restaurants are celebrating the occasion and the city of Jacksonville, their hometown.
“BK® may be found worldwide, but only Jacksonville can claim to be its home,” said Jimmy Harms, who recently celebrated 40 years as a BURGER KING® franchisee owner. “We are proud to serve this area and look forward to celebrating this milestone with our customers.”
Residents will also see the resurrection of the original animated king, Kurger Bing, in commercials highlighting these deals as part of a local campaign celebrating BURGER KING®‘s heritage.
Originally launched in 1953 as Insta-Burger King, founders James McLamore and David Edgerton originally sold burgers for 18 cents each on Beach Boulevard. The oldest location standing can be found at 13049 North Main Street. BURGER KING® now stretches around the world from the Florida Panhandle to Thailand.
