Friends of the Alhambra were asked to vote earlier this year for the summer musical, with choices that were all kid friendly. Joseph won hands down. It is truly a show that the entire family can enjoy, even young children. Many musicals have first acts that run up to an hour and a half, but not Joseph; it is just about half an hour. The show zips along so well that even children with short attention spans never get bored.
The curtain call is a rousing ten to twelve minute reprise of every major song in the show, and with all those marvelous voices joining forces, it really raises the roof at the Alhambra and the audience members leave with rhythm in their hearts and smiles on their faces.
The Alhambra Theatre goes all the way to make your visit a memorable occasion, with, of course, the food and the show, but it’s the other extras that make it really special. Outside on the lawn you will find two Sphinxes to start you on your trip to Egypt. Inside are other photo opportunities that include Egyptian statues and even a gold camel.
Adults will have their choice of four delicious food selections. Kids have the option of the Young Pharaoh Buffet, which features food they know and love. Visit alhambrajax.com for additional information, and prepare to be delighted with this lively summer production.
