Brickbats to Mayor Alvin Brown’s Office for failing to include speakers of faiths other than Christian at his annual Interfaith Breakfast May 20. At similar meetings in 2011 and 2012, the speakers included a rabbi, Hindu priest and an imam. This year, all seven of the religious leaders were from Christian churches. The breakfast, attended by 1,000 people, was designed to encourage the faith-based community to partner together to improve education and reduce crime. Aleizha Batson, a city spokesperson, said it was an oversight not to include representatives of other faiths; the mayor said it was his fault.
