Two weeks ago the Jacksonville Giants defeated the Dallas Vandals in two closely fought games by just one point each (85-84; 110-109), winning their second consecutive American Basketball Association (ABA) Championship. Now, it’s time to celebrate!
This Thursday, May 2nd, the Jacksonville Giants will be celebrating their ABA Championship with a Parade in the Sports Complex. Jacksonville’s back-to-back Champs will start the parade at 4pm at Everbank Stadium traveling West on Bay Street, and then proceed down A. Philip Randolph Blvd., to the Veteran’s Memorial Arena. The parade will consist of classic cars, military vehicles, fire trucks, marching bands and much more.
The parade will end at the Arena but the party continues with a free cookout, live music, and presentation in front of the Arena. Championship t-shirts and season 3 championship posters will be provided to all fans in attendance, for free. Fans can take pictures with the players and the 2013 championship trophy, as well.
Come support Jacksonville’s ABA Champions and be a part of the celebration. For more details check the Giants’ website www.jacksonvillegiants.com and the Giants’ Facebook page.
The Giants defeated the South Carolina Warriors last season in St. Petersburg, FL in a two games to none sweep (106-101 in overtime; and 100-91). Jermaine Bell, Currye Todd, Anthony Jackson and Matt Fields are the only members of both Championship teams.
