Oscar Nominations Announced for 2013 Academy Awards

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced its nominations for the 2013 Academy Awards.
Many surprises are expected the night of the live telecast, just a little over 40 days away. The academy has already rattled industry predictions with the omission of Ben Affleck, Argo, and Kathryn Bigelow, Zero Dark Thirty, for Best Director. The Life of PI received 11 nominations and Lincoln leads the pack with 12 nominations. The biggest surprise came in the smallest of packages when seven year old Quvenzhane Wallis received the nomination for Best Actress for her role in Beasts of the Southern Wild.
The Oscar telecast airs February 24th on ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT, hosted by Seth MacFarlane.
