on January 9th the Jacksonville Giants matched up against the Savannah Grizzles at a neutral site game hosted at Yulee High School. Jermaine Bell led the Giants with 29 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 blocks. Anthony Jackson contributed 23 points off the bench including a crowd pleasing alley-oop to himself. “Giants came out and established the tempo early in the game with the pressure in defense and precision offense.” Head Coach Kevin Water said after the win.
The Giants came out hot scoring 52 points in the first quarter allowing only 8 total points. Forward Freeman Taylor and guard Tony Hooper both added double-doubles, Taylor with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Hooper with 14 points and 11 assists. This marks the Giants, who are currently ranked 2nd in the ABA power rankings, ninth straight win and gives the team a total overall record of 17-1.
The Giants will next play in Savannah against the Grizzlies January 11th, the first of four on the road. The Giants will return to Veterans Memorial Arena January 25th where they will face the Bahama All-Pro Team.
