Saint Augustine’s premier fashion event is back! With the closing of last year’s venue and the re-birth of Café Eleven, we have decided to bring the Trunk Show back to it’s roots by hosting it at the Original Café Eleven. The Big Trunk Show uniquely unites the city’s growing contingent of up-and-coming fashion designers under an official one-of-a-kind platform that brings fashion to the forefront of North Florida’s culture. It is an up-close and personal look at the areas fashion influences with music from live DJs, beer and wine specials, Fashion Films, custom t-shirt printing booth and shopping featuring a range of jewelry, accessories and apparel from North Florida’s hottest designers.
This event is designed to put the spotlight on local designers and the art of fashion. In recent years fashion design has become one of the most respected and personal forms of art. National media, movies, books, museums and television have embraced the art of fashion design. Fashion is no longer just about clothes. It’s about artistic expression and personal inspiration. Many of the companies involved this year create their pieces by hand. It is often very satisfying to know that something you are wearing was created by the actual artist with their very own blood, sweat, and tears going into every piece. This is a chance to meet these inspirational individuals, whom have decided to create their own path in the world of fashion. With recent economic turns and the Occupy Wall Street movement, we are forced to take a hard look into who and where we are spending our hard earned money. What better way to support the local economy and defer from spending at faceless big name stores than to shop direct from Local Independent Designers?
The trunk show is always booked to capacity and the designers are busy readying their lines for the public. The talent pool is deep this year, with a great mix of varying tastes being represented. Returning favorites from last year Indi Loves Harlie, Re-Used, Honeywell, Paper Root, and JBon Clothing will be in full force this year showing new collections as well as hard to find items from their past releases. As usual, there is a number of newcomers looking to make their mark on the fashion scene.
Another attraction which has become a staple in the shows past is the custom t-shirt printing booth. It will be set up for live screen printing where for $5 you can bring in a blank t-shirt and choose a custom design to printed on it, or you can use one of our supplied tees and get it printed for $10. If you have never seen the process of a t-shirt being printed, this is a must see.
