If you’ve an interest in art events and you’re between the ages of 23 to 40, an Up & Cummers membership might be just the thing to get you involved with other, similarly interested people your age.
Whether you’re looking for great art events to go to, or you want to network with artistic types or if you’re just looking to strike up friendships with stimulating people, you’ll find that it’s a fit for you.
Their new Up & Cummer’s series, named What is Art? will be continuing through this year. The Cummer Museum has been getting more oriented towards exhibiting art from local artists in the past five years or so, and this series is an illustration of that. The December What is Art? featured six local artists using various mediums and styles as well as nibbles from Bluefish, Chew, Taverna, River City Brewing Company and ‘town. Sometimes it’s engaging to go to a show that doesn’t follow a particular theme and have the fun of discovering artists in your own back yard.
The perks for Up & Cummer Membership make the yearly cost of $70 worthwhile ($105 for a family, $50 for students). Exclusive invites, freebies and discounts are all part of the benefits. You’ll get free admission to the Cummer throughout the year, free tickets to three events and free admission to the Cummer concert series. Discounts include 10% off the Cummer Store and the Tree Cup Cafe, discounts on Up & Cummers events that are open to the public and reduced admission to classes. Membership to the Cummer and reciprocal memberships at sister museums are also part of the package.
