Jacksonville Music Video Revival Update

The response to the Jacksonville Music Video Revival has been astounding! Bands are eager to increase their exposure, filmmakers are finding inspiration through the musicians they are working with, and the people are stoked to experience the rich and vibrant talent of our city in exciting new ways.
Because of all the feedback and positive response received since the announcement went out last month, we’ve expanded the scope of this already monumental event. The plan is to turn this into a regularly occurring event at multiple venues. The premiere will be held at the 5 Points Theatre during the August First Fridays on August 6th. We’ll do four showings of the 45-minute program beginning at 5 pm. Entry is free so you’ll be able to come in out of the heat, grab a pitcher of Bold City beer, watch some videos and still be able to participate in all the First Fridays festivities. After the premiere event, we will be taking the program out to Jax Beach for a showing at Mellow Mushroom, followed by potential events in St. Augustine and beyond!
In the future you’ll be able to go online to watch the videos again and vote for your favorite one. Some time in the future there will be a finale event that is promising to be one of the most epic local music celebrations this city has ever seen.
To make this happen as imagined will take some work on your part. This is to be a community-building event as much as it is a celebration. Several professional producers of video have expressed an interest in working with local bands. There will be a listing on jackdiablo.com where interested filmmakers can get your band’s contact info. Email me at jdiablo@folioweekly.com if you’re interested in participating.
But as always, the most important part of the equation is you, the supporter and appreciator of local, independent music and film. Help us spread the word to create an even more vibrant and healthy creative culture in Jacksonville and the surrounding area.
