Not only is the spring a great time to get healthy and look good but spring also means it’s time to scour stores for the perfect swimsuit to flatter your curves. What’s cooler than a polar bear’s toenails this season? When shopping be on the lookout for these trends of Summer 2010:
monokini The fashion forward trend that has risen to the top of beach style since it was introduced last year is the wondrous and equally eye catching look of a monokini. This is a must add to your summer wardrobe and whether you are a little curvy or super slender there’s a cut that is right for you. Look for styles with a halter or bandeau top stitched from quirky florals or ’80s geometric prints.
one piece = love In the past one pieces have taken the rap for being matronly and conservative, but there’s something a little intriguing about leaving some things up to the imagination. Take the time to track down a cleavage boosting plaid bustier style from Betsey Johnson or a form-fitting Betty Paige inspired piece. Don’t be afraid to prove to the masses that this onesie style isn’t solely for the post preggo tummy anymore.
bandeaus are tops! There is such a graceful aspect to a bare decollete, plus if you’re feeling less than blessed about your bust line, this is a great top for enhancing natural features. In fact, bigger chests tend to look awkwardly unbalanced in this style and I would highly suggest steering clear. Two spring styles from the 2010 swim collection of Marc by Marc Jacobs deliver classy and trendy at the same time. He offers not only super cute color block style with Lucite buckle details, but he also crosses into another trend adding ruffle details to a floral print top.
bright, bold color Be it a print monokini that is bursting with yellow, hot pink and florescent orange or a solid turquoise twist top bandeau bikini from leading swimwear company, Vitamin A, just make sure the suit you fancy this summer is exploding with color!
get crazy with prints Let graffiti inspire you to be daring when choosing the print of your new suit. Custo Barcelona helps lead the industry with cutting edge graphics mainly pulled from the roots of Spanish inspiration (where the line is from). The funkier Ta-Vik swimwear, based out of Southern California, has a seriously ’90s (a la Saved by the Bell) feel this season. Plaids, retro floral and Native American inspired chevron prints are not to be missed either!
Whatever your pick this summer, seek out a bathing suit that makes you feel sexy and confident. You want to spend more time hunting sharks teeth than worrying about your muffin top. And always remember, when nothing else works, you can’t go wrong with black.
