Logically, you would think that gift cards are one of the most straight forward things you could buy, with no chance of saving money. You spend $25 and get a $25 gift card to give as a gift–right? Nope. In past holiday seasons retailers have offered incentives so that more gift cards are bought. This can mean an incentive of 10% to 20% more cash on a gift card than you spent to get it.
You can also get free gift cards with purchase at certain retailers. So if you have some gifts you were going to buy anyway, why not shop at a store that essentially gives you cash back for purchases there?
