There’s another reason to head to the beach this summer besides soaking up the rays. The Jacksonville Beach Summer Jazz Series is back and promises to be better than ever. The annual event is in its eighth year and will bring some of the finest jazz musicians in the country to the Sea Walk Pavilion.
The series began on June 14th with performances by award winning contemporary jazz guitarist and composer Ken Navarro. Then jazz/R&B keyboardist Alex Bugnon and saxophonist Paul Taylor shared the stage for an amazing show. The series continues on July 12th with sets by the Toronto-based Four80East as well as Paul “Shilts” Weimar and Eric Darius. Finally, on August 9th Michael Lington, Brian Simpson and Jackiem Joyner will end the summer with a bang.
As with most of the stellar events at the Sea Walk Pavilion, admission to the Jacksonville Beach Summer Jazz Series is completely free of charge. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or some lawn chairs and enjoy the show under the stars. Entertainment begins at 5 pm, but you should arrive early to snag a good spot. For more information, call 247-6100 (ext. 3) or visit jacksonvillebeach.org.
