If you have you been considering introducing your kids to theatre, Wednesday, February 11, will be the perfect opportunity. Oliver! will be performed at the Times-Union Center’s Moran Theater at 10 am and 7 pm and the evening performance will be Family Night on Broadway. The Oliver! Family Night on Broadway will feature Oliver themed games from the 1800s like hopscotch, games of chance, rollin’ hoop, and many others prior to the show and at intermission. These games will provide an interactive, hands-on theatre going experience for children and families. Children travel back in time to experience what Oliver himself would have been playing at the turn of the turn of the century. Kid-friendly foods will also be available.
Oliver! is the heartwarming tale of an orphan forced to live on meager rations, enduring difficult living situations. Determined to find a better life, young Oliver Twist runs away from the abusive orphanage and finds himself mixed up with pickpockets in 19th-century London. Based on Charles Dickens’ literary classic, Oliver! follows one spirited orphan on his journey through a colorful underworld in search of love and acceptance. This could be one good way to get your kids to appreciate a warm bed, hot meals and loving parents.
Hits such as ‘Consider Yourself At Home,’ ‘Food, Glorious Food’ and ‘Where Is Love’ surround the heartwarming tale in this all new production of Lionel Bart’s magical musical.
Tickets range in price from $25.50 to $50.50. For every adult ticket you purchase to Family Night, you may purchase one child ticket for 1/2 price. Call the FCCJ Artist Series Box Office at 632-3373 and mention “CHILDOLIVER” when ordering tickets or enter the event password “CHILDOLIVER” when ordering online at artistseries.fccj.org.
