the eagles

It’s downright impossible not to know at least one Eagles song. From ‘Hotel California’ to ‘Desperado’ to ‘Witchy Woman,’ the Eagles are one of the most popular bands of all time and are responsible for some of the biggest hits of the 70s. Just look at their album Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975). It’s the best-selling album in US history. Heck, you probably have a copy in your record collection right now!
The Eagles formed in 1972 almost by chance. A group of session musicians were recruited to back Linda Ronstadt on a two-month tour and on her self-titled album. Once their stint on the road ended, the guys decided to form their own band and were quickly signed and on their way to rock superstardom. Their debut album, released less than a year after they formed, yielded three Top 40 singles and is one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.” That was, of course, only the beginning.
With five number-one singles and six number-one albums, the Eagles were one of the most successful recording artists of their time… And maybe our time too since the band is back together and making award-winning music once again. Their latest album, Long Road out of Eden was their first of all new material since 1979. The record’s first single, ‘How Long,’ took home a Grammy for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group, proving that the Eagles still have what it takes even after all these years.
The Eagles will be performing at the Jacksonville Memorial Arena on January 28th. Tickets for this once in a lifetime show range in price from $45 to $185. Get tickets and more information by calling 353-3309.
