First Coast bluegrass fans will have a chance to ring in the New Year right with a three-day festival that’s sure to get toes tapping and hands clapping. It’s time once again for Jekyll Island, Georgia’s annual New Year’s Bluegrass Festival, an event that’s been going strong for over 30 years.
The festival is set up so that each band will perform twice per day (with the exception of Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys, who will play one 90 minute set on Saturday), giving fans ample opportunity to see their favorite bluegrass artists jam in the flesh. The lineup includes The Country Gentlemen, The Inspirations, Larry Sparks & the Lonesome Ramblers, The Gibson Brothers, Cherryholmes, Carolina Road Band, The Lewis Family, The Bluegrass Brothers and many, many more.
The festival will be held at the Jekyll Island Convention Center on January 1st through the 3rd. Tickets can be bought for each individual day or for the entire three day event. Single day tickets for adults are $30 for general admission and $35 for advance reserved. Kids ages 6 to 13 are $15 per day for general admission and $20 per day for reserved. If you want to go all three days adults will pay $75 for general admission and $85 for reserved. Kids ages 6 to 13 are $40 general admission and $45 reserved. Kids 6 and under are free with a parent all fest long. For more information on this not to be missed event, including a complete list of bands and their performance times, visit aandabluegrass.com or call (706) 864-7203.
