SAMA Baby. When Shivani Gupta moved to Jacksonville she realized that there was a lack of organic baby clothes in the market. So what did she do about it? She did her research, began a website called SAMA Wellness, and in 2006 she started her company along with partner Anita Gupta. “I have always known that organics are better for everyone and I also knew that they are especially important in the beginning”, Shivani says. “I found that organic cotton baby clothes had so many benefits and I wanted to share them with everyone, especially local residents!” That’s one of the reasons SAMA Baby got involved in the Eco Baby Expo which will be held in Jacksonville on Saturday, November 8 from 1pm-5pm at the Harbour Village Shopping Center (at the intersection of Atlantic and San Pablo, next to Queen’s Harbour).
SAMA baby is proud of the fact that in addition to being 100% certified organic; their clothes are made with fair trade practices and utilize wind power. They also claim that their garments are the softest organic cotton and also the most fashion forward.
The company has an interesting setup. Their office is in Jacksonville where they deal with all the sales and operations. They have designers in New York, India, and Texas (which is also where their warehouse is located). The clothes are manufactured in India. That’s a lot of traveling and quite a few time zones to deal with while growing their Jacksonville company.
So where can you get your SAMA baby fix? In Jacksonville you can find their line of organic baby clothes at Anomaly in Five Points, Native Sun Natural Foods on Baymeadows Rd. and USA Baby at Atlantic and San Pablo. You can also buy directly from their website www.SAMAbaby.com.
