Folio Weekly also offers the area's most comprehensive calendar of events and its best restaurant guide.
Annual Manual 2008
Stereotypes. Given the great diversity of Northeast Florida's neighborhoods and the huge geographical expanse they occupy, broad generalizations are sometimes the only way to get a handle on them. For better or worse, we've come to believe that all residents of Ponte Vedra Beach live in gated communities. That all Westsiders have strong opinions about Jeff Gordon and Jeff Davis. And that Northsiders -- white and black -- like fish-frys and laissez-faire code enforcement.
The accuracy of neighborhood stereotypes isn't the point. Convenience is. But for the sake of both newcomers and lifers who've never bothered to fact-check their biases, Folio Weekly plunges into our regional pigeonholes, plumbing them for truth, injustice and the occasional shock of recognition.
Oh, and we've also included our 2008 Annual Manual, a comprehensive guide to all the parks, people and places you need to know in order to live wisely and well in Northeast Florida. So forget your prejudices and preconceptions and remember to bring along Folio Weekly's 2008 Annual Manual, wherever you may roam.
